Tisch Hospital Emergency Department

The NYU Medical Center (Tisch Hospital) Emergency Department serves a broad spectrum of adult and pediatric patients reflecting the role of the medical center as a regional community hospital as well as a tertiary care referral center. The Tisch Hospital Emergency Department has a census of 32,000 patients per year. Of these, approximately 25% are hospitalized. Tisch Hospital has one of the highest case mix indices (acuity) in the State of New York. Geriatric, cardiovascular, neurologic, hematologic, pediatric and transplantation related emergencies are common. The Department contains approximately 10,000 square feet of clinical space with 18 treatment areas and four private consultation rooms.
