As part of the Teen and Young Adult Group, Hassenfeld’s Photo-journaling Program is led by a trained art therapist who helps teen and young adult patients express, capture, and chronicle their emotions through photography and journaling.
Working on their own photo-journaling projects allows patients to tell their personal story of diagnosis and treatment in a powerful and reflective way. Teen and young adult patients work in groups and individually to learn principles of photography, journaling, writing, and the art of digital media. They use photo-journaling as a creative way to share their insights, thoughts, and fears about their disease.
