March 12, 2008—The Hassenfeld Children’s Center Education Center and Library is partnering with the Metropolitan Museum of Art to offer programming to patients and their siblings.

Through this program, an art educator from the Museum comes to the Hassenfeld clinic once a month to facilitate an hour-long program about a topic in art.

Patients, siblings, and family members are able to view a slide show of Museum works, discuss art, learn critical thinking skills, and engage in a hands-on art project related to the discussion.

This program is offered to Hassenfeld patients, siblings, and family members once a month in the Hassenfeld playroom.

The first program, Animals in Art, was held February 4. This program complements existing recreation therapy and art therapy programs already in place at the Hassenfeld clinic and underscores Hassenfeld’s interdisciplinary approach to care.

For more information regarding this program, please contact Lita Anglin at 212-263-9958.
