Orthopaedic Residencies and Fellowships
As part of NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases Orthopaedic
Residency Program, medical residents and sports fellows are given
an opportunity to become familiar with dance injuries during an
eight-week or six-month clinical rotation, (respectively). Residents and
Fellows accompany the Center’s medical Attendings during dance
clinics where they co-evaluate and treat the dancer's injuries.
Incoming residents receive a packet of required readings which will
familiarize them with the unique presentation and etiology of dance
injuries as well as injury trends and epidemiologic factors associated
with injury rates. Lectures by the Harkness Center’s attending
orthopaedic staff are a regular part of the residents' academic
schedule. Continuing medical education courses and lectures on topics
