A multidisciplinary team approach is utilized to assist patients with neuromuscular disorders in the treatment of their disease and applying the latest therapies in a positive and caring environment. In collaboration with other departments at the Hospital for Joint Diseases, the Program offers the following services:
- Genetic counseling and screening
- Comprehensive pain treatment
- Physical and occupational therapy
- Respiratory Care
- Critical Care Medicine
- Nutritional care
- Orthotics
- Social work services
- Support Groups
State of the art diagnostic resources within the Program and the Hospital for Joint Diseases are available to patients with neuromuscular disorders including:
- Electromyography and nerve conduction studies
- Single fiber electromyography
- Quantitative sensory evaluation
- Autonomic reflex testing
- Evoked potentials
- Stabilometry
- Muscle and nerve biopsies
- Skin biopsies
- Magnetic resonance imaging
The goal of the Program is to provide comprehensive medical care for patients with neuromuscular disorders in both the outpatient and inpatient settings.
