A 1991 graduate of the University of North Carolina (UNC) at Chapel Hill School of Medicine, Dr. Wallach completed his internal medicine residency training at UNC Hospitals. He subsequently moved to New York City, where he worked in an Internal Medicine Faculty Practice. In 1997, Dr. Wallach joined the Division of General Medicine at Bellevue Hospital as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine. He currently serves as the Section Chief of General Internal Medicine at Bellevue. Dr. Wallach's clinical responsibilities include direct patient care and medical student/house staff supervision in both the ambulatory and inpatient settings. In addition, he is a member of the Medical Board at Bellevue and serves on several hospital-wide committees: Drugs and Formulary, Disaster Preparedness, the Smoking Cessation Task Force and the Clinical Information Systems Steering Committee. He is a 2006 Fellow in Quality Improvement with the National Association of Public Hospitals. Within the NYU School of Medicine, Dr. Wallach serves as the Associate Course Director for the Ambulatory Care Clerkship and as a seminar leader in the Patient, Physician and Society Course. He is a core faculty member of the NYU Internal Medicine Residency Training Program. Dr. Wallach's research interests include chronic disease management and health outcomes. In 2004, he received the Outstanding Ambulatory Care Clerkship Teaching and Hospitalist of the Year awards at Bellevue. |
