Jyotsna Changrani, MD, MPH, Receives Grant for Innovative Study of South Asian Immigrants

Jyotsna Changrani, MD, MPH of the Center for Immigrant Health, spearheads an NIH-funded hypertension study among South Asian immigrants.

South Asians Engaging in Hypertension Awareness and Treatment (SAEHAT) addresses the glaring gap in hypertension education and service linkage for South Asian immigrants. This exploratory study will examine an innovative community-based intervention to increase screening for hypertension and treatment referral among South Asian immigrants.

SAEHAT is the first NIH-funded study to focus specifically on hypertension in South Asians, reflecting the urgency of addressing its impact in this community.
