Since its founding in 1964, the Division of Gastroenterology at New York University School of Medicine has been dedicated to:

• advancing knowledge of digestive diseases and hepatology through an active program in clinical and basic research


• providing the same high level of patient care in gastroenterology across our three academically integrated teaching hospitals


• offering state-of-the-art training in gastroenterology and hepatology to our medical students, house staff, and fellows

Over the past four years, the division has increased its roster of basic and translational investigators, instituted a Clinical Trials Program, and enhanced the educational experience of its trainees by successfully expanding the GI Fellowship Program to Tisch Hospital.

Other recent initiatives include the establishment of an Esophageal Research Group and the recruitment of an esophagologist to lead an Esophageal Disease Center.
