• Nephrolithiasis studies are currently addressing genetic and environmental factors that influence stone disease, with future studies aimed at identifying the underlying genes that regulate these risk factors.

• Hemodialysis studies: multicenter cooperative trials in hemodialysis patients, noninvasive measure of volume and nutritional status.

• Glomerular disease: podocyte biology, collapsing glomerulopathy, and glomerulonephritis consortium.

• Evaluation of kidney disease in the Latino community: NYU is currently processing all kidney biopsies for the Dominican Republic. This information will be used to determine the incidence of kidney diseases in the Dominican Republic and to identify these diseases and their etiologies.
