Olga Zhdanova, MD, and Manish Ponda, MD, Receive Peter Elsbach Award
Dr. Olga Zhdanova and Dr. Manish Ponda received the Peter Elsbach Award at Medicine Research Day May 7, 2008. This award is given to the outstanding presentation by a Junior Faculty member in the Department of Medicine.
While normally only 1 award is given, both tied for first place in the voting.
Dr. Zhdanova's winning research paper is entitled: "Defective CD4 T Cell Activation in Nucleoside Diphosphate Kinase Beta and KCa3.1 Knockout Mice." Dr. Ponda shared the award for his research entitled: "Uremia Impairs Regression of Atherosclerosis."
The award is named in honor of the distinguished physician and researcher, Dr. Peter Elsbach. Peter Elsbach, M.D., Ph.D., is Professor Emeritus at New York University School of Medicine.
