The Bellevue Pulmonary Function Laboratory studies ventilatory control, respiratory failure, obesity hypoventilation syndrome, and computerized technologies to score and interpret polysomnography studies. Respiratory failure due to acid maltase deficiency (glycogen storage disease) is being addressed by clinical trials of enzyme replacement and gene therapy.
