The Clinical Ladder Program

The Clinical Ladder Program is an advancement program designed to promote professional nursing practice at NYU Hospitals Center.

Utilizing the novice to expert model of nursing practice described by Patricia Benner, PhD, RN, FAAN, FRCN in her book From Novice to Expert: Excellence and Power in Clinical Nursing Practice, nurses are encouraged, supported, and recognized as they advance through the four levels of practice titled Staff Nurse, Senior Staff Nurse, Nurse Clinician, and Senior Nurse Clinician.
