The National Ovarian Cancer Early Detection Program (NOCEDP), a multidisciplinary international research consortium, was established in 1994 by NYUCI's Dr. David Fishman to improve early detection of epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) and to identify women at increased risk of developing ovarian cancer.

NOCEDP consists of clinicians and scientists from the National Cancer Institute (NCI), U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), universities, clinics, and industrial partners.

NOCEDP investigators provide clinical care to women 18 and older who are at high risk for EOC as defined by the following:

  1. personal history or family history of breast, colon, ovarian, or urinary cancer
  2. genetic mutations that predispose them to ovarian cancer (a recognized inherited malignancy syndrome or inherited gene mutation)
  3. use of fertility drugs for more than one year
