Pediatric Residency Program

Welcome

Dr. Robert LemboGreetings and a warm welcome to our new Alumni Web site to all of you former residents and colleagues. We are glad to have you back in the NYU-Bellevue neighborhood, even if it’s only in cyberspace. I do hope, however, that you’ll come and visit the campus because there is much that is new and exciting in Pediatrics at NYU and Bellevue, including new facilities for patient care as well as new leadership in the Department and for the training program.

After 16 years as Director of Medical Education in the Department, I have moved on to a new position at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland. This was not an easy decision to be sure, but it presented an opportunity for me to pursue my career interest in graduate medical education administration. As Executive Director of Graduate Medical Education at the NIH, my administrative portfolio has expanded beyond Pediatrics to include Allergy & Immunology, the major subspecialty areas of Internal Medicine, Medical Genetics, Pathology and Psychiatry. I’m learning quite a bit about how other disciplines approach medical education, and I can assure you that the curriculum in place to train pediatricians at NYU and Bellevue remains in the avant-garde of programs nationally.

I hope to see all of you again either at AAP or Pediatric Academic Society meetings or at the multiple opportunities to return to Manhattan and attend events on campus, such as Dancis Research Day, to celebrate the successful past and the bright future of Pediatrics at NYU-Bellevue.

Best wishes always,

Bob Lembo
