Pediatric Residency Program

Welcome

Wade Parks, M.D.Greetings!

I write to you now, no longer as Chairman of Pediatrics, but as a retiree. We live in a resort community Palm Coast, FL and have a log cabin in the mountains outside of Asheville, NC. So we are all at somewhat different points on our shared professional journeys as pediatricians. Still, I can with confidence identify with each of you and where you are today in your careers.

Finishing your residency training and beginning to learn more of the practice of Pediatrics (in a wide variety of settings), is one of the most rewarding parts of our journey in pediatrics. It’s like leaving home and family and being independent for the first time. Further, studies show that helping people and being independent are two of the major factors in a satisfying professional lifestyle. I trust that you are finding great personal satisfaction in your work.

When you left home for the first time, you were still part of a genetic family. Likewise, when you left the NYU-Bellevue residency program you are still a part of our pediatric family. Personally, we all remember our residency training in pediatrics with an amazing clarity. Among the most intense of our life experiences, it helped to shape us into the pediatricians that we are today. We learned many of our attitudes and skills from our fellow house officers and remain forever grateful to them.

With his usual positive energy and enthusiasm, Harris Burstin is inaugurating this Residency Alumni effort. Along with Bob Lembo’s dedication and committed support, we will work with you to stay in touch and enable communication with the people from our training. We are a family. And as pediatricians we appreciate the importance of family and good communication. So please, let us stay in touch and help each other on this journey that goes on and on and improves all the way. Email and let me know how you are doing.

Warmly,

Wade Parks
