Founded in 1997, the Infant Apnea and SIDS Program, a State Accredited APNEA/SIDS Center is directed by Neonatology Faculty, Dr.Anthony Orsini. Critically ill infants such as graduates of the NICU and other children are at risk for apnea, sudden infant death syndrome SIDS, and acute life-threatening events.
The Infant Apnea and SIDS Program is an avenue to provide parent education and support for those special families in need of these services. The program cares for all infants under 1500 gms who have been graduates of the NICU and receives many outside referrals. The program interfaces well with the Developmental Program and provides CPR education, parent and pediatrician support, for as long as the infant requires monitor care.
The Program coordinated by Ms. Bette Herbert and administratively run by Ms. Jessie Caprio has been a recipient of funds from the Limon Foundation. The Program is located in Bellevue Hospital 8th floor.
