How to Register

At the start of each fall and spring semester all Sackler students are required to register for coursework and/or research. Registration dates are announced via e-mail and postings throughout the Medical Center. Students should make arrangements with Lisabeth Greene in the Sackler Office if they are unable to attend registration.

How to Apply for Transfer Credit

Students may request approval of transfer credit after their first year performance at Sackler is reviewed. Associate Director, Dr. Mark Rush, must see an original transcript which includes the courses the student wishes to be considered for transfer credit. Both written approval and the official transcript should be brought to the Sackler Institute.

The transfer request will then be processed with the GSAS Administration. The Office of Associate Dean Matthews, at Washington Square, will notify the Sackler Office of the number of transfer credits awarded.

How to Apply for Graduation

Students are eligible for graduation three times a year, September, January and May. Students should call Torchtone at 995-4747 at the beginning of the semester they anticipate meeting their program requirements to apply for graduation. Notify the Sackler Office of expected graduation and obtain appropriate paperwork and deadlines. Mary Roldan is our Graduation Services contact in the Registrar’s office. If you experience problems registering for graduation via Torchtone or want to verify the spelling of your name, the correct mailing address or the appropriate major to be listed on your transcript, please contact Ms. Roldan at 998-4866.

How to Order a Transcript

Student requests for official transcripts in writing must be signed and contain the following information:

1. Social Security or Student I.D. Number.
2. Current name and any additional name used while attending NYU
3. Current Address
4. Date of Birth
5. School - the Sackler Institute, Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, a division of GSAS
6. Dates of attendance/graduation
7. Full name and address of the person or institution to which the transcript is to be sent.
