- Not smoking
- Exercising regularly
- Maintaining weight that is proportional to height
- Moderate intake of alcohol
Secondary stroke prevention is for those who already had signs and symptoms of a mini stroke or TIA (Transient Ischemic Attack) or stroke. This involves the management of conditions that puts one at risk of having another stroke and includes:
- Control of high blood pressure
- Control of high blood sugar
- Control of high cholesterol level
- Losing weight if overweight or obese
- Taking medications prescribed by your doctor
- Doing exercises considered safe and appropriate by your doctor
