Dr. Evan Nadler runs a basic science laboratory with one major ongoing research project.

Biliary Atresia
Biliary atresia is a progressive obliteration of the bile ducts that can lead to cirrhosis. One third of children with this disease are cured by surgery; the rest require liver transplantation. Biliary atresia currently creates biggest need for liver transplantation in children. Dr. Nadler is currently investigating the disease process that leads to biliary atresia to find non-surgical treatment alternatives to conventional surgical therapy. This research will be presented at prestigious national meetings starting in 2007.
